Nanny Granny

My name is Nanny Granny and I am a VERY old goat! I have lived in a lot of different places but in none of them for very long. I have had a very difficult life. Right before I came to live at the sanctuary, I lived with some nice people who loved me but didn’t know very much about goats. Because I am old, I needed special food that the people didn’t know about and so I got very skinny. In fact, I got so skinny that I really didn’t want to live anymore. I didn’t want to get up and walk around and I refused to eat and drink. My new mom is very stubborn, though, and she fixed me special meals and gave me Gatorade mixed with honey. My new mom made me eat and drink. She gave me special medicine that the doctor prescribed just for me and she gave me lots of tasty treats. She spent so much time worrying over me that I decided to try to go on. I began to eat little by little and my mom never let my food bowl get empty. One morning, about a month after I came to the sanctuary, I gave my new mom a wonderful gift. I had two little baby girl goats. Their names are Blanca and Rita and they have their own stories to tell you. They are wonderful but they are a handful, full of energy and life. I take very good care of them because I know how to be a good mother goat. I also am very thankful that they were born here at the sanctuary. I know that they will live here forever and that they will always be taken care of properly. I am gaining weight slowly and feel my strength returning. I call to my new mom in my most loving voice when I hear her coming near. I am still too weak to join the other goats but our room is right next to them and I have met them all. I can’t wait until I can go out in the green grass with the others. I know that I will live the rest of my happy days here at the sanctuary.
