Bindi
I’m Bindi and I’m a most
exceptional horse. I was born in a field with a lot of other horses
but nothing to eat. My horse mom fed me warm milk but she, like the
other horses in the field, was getting very skinny. The man who owned
us couldn’t feed any of his horses anymore and really didn’t
have time for us so when I was about four months old the man took us
to the auction. The auction is a place where people buy horses and cows.
It was very noisy and scary at the auction and I tried my best to stay
close to my mom. When it was our turn to be sold, my mom and I went
into the building but no one wanted us. They said my mom was too skinny
and probably wouldn’t live very much longer. We ran around so
they could see that we were strong but still no one wanted us. Finally,
a nice man bought us and took us home. He fed us and gave us water and
my mom grew stronger but neither my mom nor I had ever been taken care
of by a person and so we were not very friendly. The man needed to find
us a home and that’s when my new mom brought us to the sanctuary.
My mom is fat and strong again and
I am getting to be a big girl now. I’m growing stronger and bigger
and smarter every day. I love my new human mom. She pets me every day
and brushes me every night. I have learned so much . I get my hooves
trimmed and I know how to bow my head and give kisses. I can’t
wait until I’m old enough for my mom to teach me how to give people
rides on my back.
